The TU Presidential Scholarship is an academic merit award that symbolizes TU's commitment to nurturing exceptional talent. This scholarship is awarded to outstanding students who demonstrate academic excellence and dedication to making a meaningful impact. Selection of Presidential Scholars is based on several factors, including exceptional performance in a rigorous college-preparatory curriculum, genuine interest in TU, active co-curricular involvement, and big dreams for the future. In other words, Presidential Scholars think deeply, are engaged fully, are willing to pursue what matters to them in an above and beyond way, and understand the commitment to the university’s core values: excellence in scholarship, dedication to free inquiry, integrity of character, and commitment to humanity.
Award Amount
The Presidential Scholarship covers full tuition for five years or until an undergraduate degree is earned (summers not included). Students must maintain a minimum of 15 hours of coursework per semester.
Eligibility Requirements
Students who either:

- Rank in the top 5% of their graduating class or
- Have at least a 4.0 weighted grade point average

International Freshman Attended NAMSA in Washington D.C.

Aiman Fariz Zaqwan Bin Akmal Hizam is an international freshman from Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. He is double majoring in Computer Science and French (IEL/ISL) and is a Presidential Scholar at TU. On campus, Aiman is involved in the Pathways to Sports Academy (Data Analytics for Men's Soccer), TU Symphony Orchestra (Violin), and contributes as a writer for The Collegian.
Aiman attended the NAMSA 2023 Summit in Washington D.C. NAMSA, short for The National Assembly of Malaysian Students in America (NAMSA), is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the Malaysian student community in the U.S. The summit aimed to foster connections between MASAs (Malaysian Student Associations) in the U.S. and NAMSA, addressing issues faced by Malaysian students in the country. The three-day event featured professional development workshops, townhall sessions, and a dialogue with the Ambassador of Malaysia to the United States, Datuk Seri Nazri Abdul Aziz.

The Global Leadership Program is a voluntary course for international students interested in learning more about and gaining skills in leadership. Program participants volunteered at the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, where they made a positive impact in reducing hunger.

Agreement with China Petroleum University
President Brad Carson and Vice Provost Vivian Wang conducted a visit to China Petroleum University, marking the esteemed institution's 70th anniversary celebration. The event garnered significant attention, attracting university leaders from various corners of the globe to celebrate the shared commitment to academic excellence. A pivotal outcome of this diplomatic rendezvous was the signing of a comprehensive agreement between TU and CPU, with the primary objective of advancing academic and cultural exchange initiatives.

International Bazaar
TU’s Association of International Students hosted the annual International Bazaar on Nov. 10. This event gave international students and cultural organizations the opportunity to share their food, cultural dress, and traditions with all TU students, staff and faculty, and Tulsa community members.
Participants represented their countries at individual booths, where guests could get delicious food and see significant artifacts. International student participants also performed dances, martial art routines, and songs, and put on a fashion show to share their cultural attire.
